The 2023 IMD International Alumni Symposium - Leadership in the age of ambiguity: exploring your agency as a global leader in times of turbulence, at IMD on 6-7 October 2023

The IMD Alumni Team is delighted to invite you to attend the 2023 International Alumni Symposium (see full agenda). 

This year, we will explore Leadership in the age of ambiguity: exploring your agency as a global leader in times of turbulence. In particular, you will: 

• Hear first-hand from Jessica Sibley, CEO of Time, as she talks to MBA alum Ian Charles Stewart, co-founder of Wired magazine, about how to thrive in tumultuous times. 
• Gain inspiration from 2022 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the Center for Civil Liberties, in conversation with MBA alum Su-Mei Thompson, CEO at Media Trust, on how she maintains resilience in the face of adversity. 
• Network with like-minded peers and gain new connections that will help you shape the future. 
• Understand the global landscape with insights from our award-winning faculty. 

As a participant of the symposium, you will complete a self-assessment - based on the research of Michael Watkins - to understand your adaptability, resilience, and grit. In conversation with Magdi Batato, Executive Vice President, Head of Operations for Nestlé, Watkins will share examples from his experience of working with senior leaders on how to hone these traits.  

You will also explore your agency as a global leader through thought-provoking Masterclasses led by Niccolò Pisani (Global trends and growth trajectories) and Zhike Lei (Courageous humility in times of crisis).

This special event will be a chance for you to reconnect with old friends, meet new peers, rediscover the IMD campus, and continue your lifelong learning journey.

The symposium will start at 6pm on Friday, 6 October and will conclude with a dinner at the Olympic Museum’s TOM café on Saturday evening.

The International Alumni Symposium is exclusively for IMD Alumni and their guests.

Payment, cancellation, and refund policy

All payments are denominated in Swiss Francs (CHF).

In case of event cancellation, IMD will refund the event fee, but will not be liable for any costs associated with travel or accommodation related to event participation.

Please note event fees are at a fixed rate. No refunds or discounts will be granted for late arrivals or for partial attendance.

An individual, full refund of the event fee will be given only if a participant sends notice of cancellation by e-mail to alumni.relations@imd.org no later than September 27, 2023. After that date, no refund will be given.

Data protection

IMD will comply with current legislation, in particular the Federal Act on Data Protection, when handling data.  This applies to, among other things, the recoding, storage and forwarding of participant data.

Please book the hotel of your choice before September 4th, 2023 (rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis).

After this date, we will release any remaining rooms and any subsequent bookings may not benefit from the IMD rates.
